I was given the opportunity and the commission to work within the exhibition My Oma. To me, the word oma has always felt very natural, since my grandmother was like a mother to me. In addition to this, my foster parent was also an oma at the time she decided to take care of us. My childhood was always surrounded by grandmothers and grandfathers. Because of this, my very first alter ego was an oma.

What can be seen in these paintings are the three most prominent alter egos from the paracosm that my sibling and I created.

The idea behind this painting is a question I pose to myself: which of these alter egos will become my future? Is it the one in the middle, who chose to dedicate her entire life to her children and her marriage, and lived unhappily? Or the one on the left, who fearlessly continued her career? Or will the man on the right decide for me?

This painting speaks about the cycle of life and about how I may become the one I imitated as a child.
